Lump & Bump Mapping

Palpation is a systematic examination using a gentle massage-like technique, from head to tail, that can help to identify bumps and lumps that might need veterinary attention. It helps to monitor skin growths and tumours, by visually documenting their location, size, shape, colour, and any other relevant characteristics of each growth size, and any changes over time.

Regular inspections and mapping identifies new or growing tumours early, which is crucial for timely diagnosis and treatment by a veterinarian. A written report is provided together with a canine body map after each session.

Palpation is a tool for early detection, not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis. Veterinary evaluation and potentially further tests (like a fine needle aspirate or biopsy) may be required to determine the nature of the lump.

“The body is not constructed from individual parts. It is a complex system that consists of mutually interacting components whose properties cannot be fully understood by examine the parts in isolation.”
